Te Tōangaroa is the original name for the area commonly known as Quay Park. The name refers to the long dragging of waka inland and out to sea through the mud flats at low tide when the harbour waters had receded.
As a key component to the Te Tōangaroa masterplan, for the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei iwi, I lead the design of a website aimed at encapsulating the forthcoming aspirations of being the first urban tangata whenua precinct nestled on the eastern end of Tāmaki Makaurau’s waterfront. At it’s core I designed the website with the future in mind, enabling the capability for content to be added as the precinct develops, building a robust and flexible digital design system. In partnership with Extended Whanau, our collaborative effort was to ensure the website mirrored the brand identity, upholding a deep respect for the nuanced Māori cultural elements that were thoughtfully woven throughout.
